Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is performed through 3 or 4 tiny keyhole incisions ranging from 5mm to 10mm. Because abdominal muscle fibers are gently separated rather than divided, recovery is exceptionally fast.
Day of Surgery:
Patients are encouraged to walk within 4 hours after waking from anesthesia and typically drink clear fluids the same evening.
Day 1 to 3:
By Day 2, a soft, low-fat home diet is initiated. Mild shoulder tip discomfort due to residual laparoscopy gas is common and subsides with gentle ambulation.
Week 1 and Beyond:
Most individuals comfortably resume light desk work within 5 to 7 days, avoiding heavy weightlifting for 3 to 4 weeks.
